Abstract; The Effect of Role Conflict and Authority on Employee’s Performance at the Regional Water Company in Ambon Town. The aim of the study was to analyze the effect of role conflict and authority on employee’s performances at the Regional Water Company (PDAM) in Ambon Town.
The study was a survey. The number population was 105 people and the number of samples was 83 people selected by stratified random sampling. The data were collected through interview and questionnaire and analyzed by using multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the study indicate that role conflict has a neagtive and significant effect on employee performance in which the value of beta is -0,223 and the value of significance is 0,001. Job authority has a positive but insignificant effect on employee performance in which the value of beta is 0.093 and the value of significance is 0,461 at the level of significance 0,05. The role conflict experienced by respondents belongs to high category due their acceptance of the task is without support or help from their employer or colleagues. And the work is not compatible with their competence. Job authority has no effect on employee’s performance. The main problems affecting the employee’s performance are insufficient facility, electric outage, neglectful water distribution facility, and many employees are incompetent in doing their job.
